Details of a new iPad with a foldable display were shared by TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on Twitter. The company may not release new iPad models for the next 12 months, while a new iPad mini model could enter mass production in 2024, according to Kuo.
Apple previously launched the iPad mini (2021) with an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display and the company’s A15 Bionic chip in September 2021.
Kuo predicts that iPad shipments for 2023 will decline by 10 to 15 percent, adding that a foldable iPad that will debut in 2024 will widen the company’s product portfolio and give iPad shipments a fillip.
Moreover, Kuo said that the iPhone maker might not release any new iPad in the next 9-12 months because “the iPad mini refresh is more likely to begin mass production” in the first quarter of next year.

Apple Inc will reportedly launch the foldable iPad with a “carbon fibre kickstand” in 2024, as per the sources. The information was shared by the tech analyst named Ming-Chi Kuo on Twitter where he tweeted.
“I’m positive about the foldable iPad in 2024 and expect this new model will boost shipments and improve the product mix,” he tweeted early Monday. Kuo expects it to be joined by a revamped iPad Mini, due to enter mass production in early 2024.
Display analyst Ross Young said last year that there were no supply chain indications of work on a folding iPhone, and he wasn’t expecting one before 2025. This was later backed by Ming-Chi Kuo, who additionally suggested that the first device might be a foldable iPad, with CCS Insight also supporting this view.
This isn’t the first time Kuo has put a date on an Apple foldable prediction after he said a foldable iPhone might release in 2023, two years ago.
But it sounds like this might be a much smaller device with a screen size in the region of 7.5 to 8 inches. Gurman has even reported that Apple has discussed releasing a foldable device with a similar screen size to the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max.
This is significantly ahead of the schedule previously suggested by Young, who said a year ago that Apple was working on some kind of “folding notebook” for 2026 or 2027. Young’s report didn’t state whether this device would be an iPad, a MacBook, or a hybrid device.
